Top 10 goals of the last four World Cups according to me

With the World Cup just under a week away I have developed ‘World Cup’ fever, usually I get it alot sooner but anyway heres my personal top 10 goals of the last four World Cups. If you disagree or would like to suggest others feel free.

The aim was to get a variation of different types of goals, in no particular order:

Dennis Bergkamp vs Argentina – France 98 – a superb last minute wonder goal sends the Argies out.

Philip Lahm vs Costa Rica – Germany 2006 – German full back gets the tournament off to a flyer with a bullet strike from the edge of the box.

Esteban Cambiasso vs Serbia – Germany 2006 – the infamous 25 or was it 26 pass goal is just majestic.

Edmilson vs Costa Rica – Japan/South Korea 2002 – a superb overhead kick from Brazilian centre half – yes a centre half!

Yordan Letchkov vs Germany – USA 94 – A bullet of a diving header sends Germany packing from USA 94’s surprise package.

Diego Forlan vs Senegal – Japan/South Korea 2002 – Ever wanted to learn the technique of the volley? Watch this.

Michael Owen vs Argentina – France 98 – England’s boy wonder bamboozles the Argies, but they still went out on penalties mind.

Jared Borghetti vs Italy – Japan/South Korea 2002 – Never has Gianluigi Buffon been left so motionless.

Gheorghe Hagi vs Columbia – USA 94 – Great vision showed by the Romanian maestro to lob the helpless keeper.

Maxi Rodriguez vs Mexico – Germany 2006 – A goal worthy of winning any game, an unstoppable drive from the Liverpool man.

So there you go, hope you enjoyed my top 10 goals.

Til next time.

Paul.
