Kidsgrove Athletic’s FA Cup dream came to an end, as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Bradford Park Avenue.
The Yorkshire based side were superior throughout the game, and made their dominance tell with two second half strikes from substitute James Beadle.
Kidsgrove began the game brightly, and had a couple of half chances early on through strike partnership Andy Kinsey and Dave Walker.
Bradford threatened on 7 minutes as Richard Marshall’s powerful drive was blocked by Grove’s Andy Taylor.
They should have taken the lead three minutes before the half hour mark, as Marshall’s header was superbly blocked by Steve Hodgson before Aiden Savory sent the rebound against the crossbar.
Kidsgrove almost took the lead on 52 minutes as Ashley Carter’s corner was met by Karl Charlton, but his drive was headed off the line by Rob O’Brien.
The visitors took the lead five minutes later, as Michael Duckworth’s corner from the left was bundled home at the back post by Beadle.
Kinsey almost responded for Grove soon after, but his drive from Walker’s low cross crashed against the foot of the post.
Hodgson again had to be at his best on 69 minutes, as he bravely blocked Adam Clayton’s low drive.
Bradford made sure of victory in style with three minutes left, as Beadle turned well on the edge of the box before chipping over Hodgson.
Kidsgrove Ahtletic Manager Peter Ward said,
“We are disappointed with the result, but I cannot fault the player’s efforts today.”
