Kidsgrove Athletic are back on track after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Loughborough Dynamo at the Seddon Stadium.
The game was decided just before half time as Danny Griggs fired home from the edge of the box. It was Grove’s first win since the end of October, a 2-1 victory over Sutton Coldfield Town.
The visitors created the best chance in the early periods as Jamie Clarke saw his goalbound effort bravely blocked by Mark Beeston.
Kidsgrove; without a recognised forward on the pitch, improved as the half wore on with Karl Charlton testing the reflexes of keeper Laurie Pearson.
They took the lead four minutes before the interval as Griggs cut in from the left wing sidestepping a couple of challenges, before firing across Pearson and into the far corner of the net.
Ashley Carter thought he had doubled the lead within two minutes of the restart, but Charlton was adjudged to be offside as he struck home from the edge of the box.
Carter again threatened just past the hour mark as he met Ross Davidson’s flick on but Pearson blocked well with his feet.
Loughborough were reduced to ten men with 11 minutes left as full back Danny Denno was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Dave Bridgwater.
Grove could have rubber stamped the win in the closing stages, but Charlton’s effort was tipped wide by Pearson.
