Kidsgrove Athletic completed a league and cup double over Leek Town, after a Matt Haddrell own goal gave them victory in the Staffordshire Senior Cup.
The visitors dominated proceedings in the first half with both Ollie Edwards and George Ray both striking the crossbar.
Grove improved after the interval, and took the lead on 49 minutes as Danny Griggs’ cross from the right was nodded home at the back post Andy Kinsey.
The lead lasted just five minutes as Edwards’ cross from the right was nodded home from twelve yards by Ray.
Kidsgrove regained the lead on 66 minutes in calamitous circumstances as Haddrell nodded past his own keeper Ben McCormack from close range, after Griggs’ cross from the right had avaded all the blue shirts in the box.
Dave Walker almost sealed the win soon after as he rounded McCormack, but Ray was on hand to clear the ball off the line.
With two minutes left Walker missed another golden chance as he was found by Charlton again, but blazed wildly over with a left foot drive.
Leek continued to press for an equaliser, with both Haddrell and Tim Grice going close.
Grove again wasted another good chance in stoppage time as Karl Charlton fed Griggs; but his shot was turned away by McCormack.
