Some fantastic news in the music world earlier today, as Depeche Mode announced their 13th studio album will be released next year to coincide with their European tour.
Martin Gore has said the album which is still unnamed at this stage, can be likened to the superb Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion (my personal favourite).
It is the follow-up to the disappointing Sounds of the Universe, which was released in 2009 and never really scaled the heights of their previous effort Playing the Angel. Between these albums lead singer Dave Gahan released his second solo album, and he will again contribute some of the songs for this album.
I was a massive fan of his first album Paper Monsters, with Hourglass having a handful of great tunes. Hopefully this album will see the band return to form, as when the Mode is on it, there is no better band in electronic music.
